Theater productions are back and in-person at Kiski Area High School.

The school’s drama club is set to present “Blithe Spirit” on Nov. 4-6 in the high school auditorium.

The play, set in Kent, England, during WWII, is recommended for ages 13 and older due to language and content.

Musical Director Kaylee Hansberry said it’s great to have students back onstage after not performing or livestreaming shows because of pandemic restrictions.

“While covid is still an active and ongoing concern, it’s wonderful that we are taking the necessary precautions to be able to be back onstage during a time like this,” Hansberry said.

The set designer is Ryan Felt, and Deanna Whaley serves as costume designer/coordinator.

Hansberry said audience members can expect to sit back and relax during the 1940s comedy written by Noel Coward.

“They can forget about the outside world for a few hours and just laugh. I’m not exaggerating when I say these kids lean into the comedy this play offers,” Hansberry said.

The plot revolves around a rich socialite novelist, Charles Condomine, who invites Madame Arcati, an eccentric clairvoyant and medium, to his house to hold a seance.

During the seance, a ghost from Condomine’s past appears and continues to disrupt Condomine’s impending wedding plans even after the conclusion of the seance.

“It’s funny, dramatic and bold,” said student Stage Manager Julia Szitas.

Lead roles are played by Bryant Brzozowski, Madison Leith, Jordan Hutchinson, Lauren Michaels, Avery Toy, Garrett Fryar and Shannon Brown. Landon Newell and Ava Hutchinson are lead understudies.

Masks are required inside the auditorium.
