With the end of an NFL regular season comes the first steps toward the next.
After the Pittsburgh Steelers won the 272nd — and final — game of the league’s 2025 season Sunday night with a 26-24 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the list of matchups for the 272 games for the 2026 were officially triggered.
For the Steelers, the victory that gave them their first AFC North title in five years also left them with a tougher first-place schedule for next season.
The NFL’s scheduling rotation leaves the opponents for three of each team’s 17 games unknown until the prior season’s standings are set. Those three are decided by like placing in teams’ respective divisions.
For the Steelers in 2026, those three games were against teams from the AFC West, AFC East and NFC East. The champions of those divisions, respectively, were the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Steelers will host the Broncos and visit the Patriots and Eagles.
As usual, the Steelers will play home-and-home games against AFC North rivals — the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. The scheduling rotation for 2026 has the AFC North facing the AFC South and NFC South.
For the Steelers, that provides home games against the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. The Steelers’ road games against those divisions will be at the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
