West Point Little League falls at state softball tournament; Legion semifinals set

The West Point Little League U12 team fell to 1-1 at the state tournament in Wellsboro on Friday, losing 7-5 to Pittston Area.

West Point was led by Morgan Maiers, who went 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Lexi Stabile singled, doubled and drove in a run, Jayelyn Luft had two hits and scored two runs and Jocelyn Luft also recorded two hits for West Point, which will play Titusville in an elimination bracket game at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Legion semifinals set

The semifinals are set for the District 31 American Legion playoffs.

Top-seeded Latrobe will play No. 5 Hempfield East in Game 1 at 6 p.m. Saturday at Latrobe, Game 2 at 11 a.m. Sunday at Pitt-Greensburg and Game 3, if necessary, at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Latrobe.

No. 2 Bushy Run will meet No. 3 Murrysville in Game 1 at noon Saturday at Penn-Trafford, Game 2 at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Haymaker Park and Game 3, if necessary, at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
