The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their depth at outside linebacker by adding veteran Markus Golden.
The 32-year-old agreed to a one-year contract with the Steelers on Wednesday.
The Steelers, who began organized team activities with openings on their 90-man offseason roster, have been looking to add depth to an outside linebackers position room that is set up well with starters T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith but had little proven quality depth as backups.
Rookie Nick Herbig was a fourth-round pick, Quincy Roche was brought back this spring but has been waived four times over the past 21 months, David Perales was signed as undrafted rookie free agent and rookie tryout Toby Ndukwe was signed Monday.

A former second-round pick who has spent most of his career with the Arizona Cardinals, Golden is entering his ninth NFL season. He has 47 sacks among 323 tackles (206 solo, 62 for loss) in 111 games (68 starts). As recently as 2021, Golden had 11 sacks and four forced fumbles for the Cardinals.

Golden, who appeared in 23 games for the New York Giants in 2019-20, played 70% of the Cardinals’ defensive snaps last season.
Golden becomes the Steelers’ third-oldest player behind defensive lineman Cameron Heyward (34) and cornerback Patrick Peterson (turns 33 next month).
