The last few years have been quite the journey for South Park graduate Randy Dobnak.
On Thursday, that journey reached its peak as Dobnak was called up to the big leagues by the Minnesota Twins.

Dobnak’s path to the major leagues is nothing short of extraordinary. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-hander went undrafted out of Division II Alderson Broaddus in West Virginia, where he tallied a career record of 26-12 with a 2.61 ERA in 46 appearances. Dobnak will be the first Battler to reach the major league level.
After his college career came to an end, Dobnak joined the Utica Unicorns of the independent United Shore League in June 2017. The Twins signed him later that month, and he has had a rapid ascent through the organization.
In 2018, Dobnak started 20 games for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in the Midwest League and produced a record of 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA. That is the highest ERA of his professional career.
He has made three different stops this season, at all three levels of the Twins organization, and he hasn’t disappointed. Over the course of this year, he has an 11-3 record with a 2.02 ERA in 125 innings pitched.
