Tyvon Edmonds Jr. scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Robert Morris to a 21-14 victory over Wagner on Saturday in the Colonials’ return to Northeast Conference competition.

Robert Morris (2-2, 2-0), which played in the NEC from 1996-2019, played the last three seasons in the Big South Conference.

Wagner (2-2, 0-1) jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a 22-yard touchdown catch by Mark Didio Jr. in the first quarter. Edmonds scored on a 2-yard run to forge a 7-7 tie at halftime and a 1-yard run to put RMU ahead for good in the third quarter.

Edmonds’ second touchdown run capped off an 84-yard drive to start the second half that included a 59-yard pass from Anthony Chiccitt to Noah Robinson.

The Colonials defense then held the Seahawks to a three-and-out and got a 43-yard punt return from Tahseen Howard to move to the Wagner 14. Chiccitt ran twice, going 11 yards and 3 yards, to give the Colonials a 21-7 lead.

Chiccitt went 17 of 27 for 219 yards and added 28 yards rushing. Edmonds had 99 yards on 16 carries. Keon Freeman recorded a career-high nine tackles and Turner Schmidt two sacks.

RMU visits Eastern Kentucky next Saturday.
