RMU men pick up ground in NEC with victory

Josh Williams had 22 points, including two key 3-pointers late, and Robert Morris defeated St. Francis Brooklyn, 67-62, on Saturday. The Colonials’ win, coupled with St. Francis (Pa.)’s loss to LIU Brooklyn, moved RMU within a game ofthe top spot in the Northeast Conference.

St. Francis Brooklyn went ahead 52-51 on a Glenn Sanabria 3-pointer with 5 minutes, 12 seconds left in the game. Williams then hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Robert Morris the lead for good. SFB closed within a point twice down the stretch.

Matty McConnell (Chartiers Valley) added 12 points for Robert Morris, which moved to 10-6 in the NEC. St. Francis (Pa.) is 11-5, and Fairleigh Dickinson is tied with Robert Morris at 10-6.

Two games remain on the NEC schedule, and the conference tournament begins March 6.
