The Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ men’s second team will be part of the USL League Two, starting in the 2026 season, the club announced Monday.

Riverhounds 2 will include players continuing their development toward the professional level. League Two will serve as a bridge for top amateur players transitioning from academy and college soccer to senior-level competition, according to a news release.

“Riverhounds 2 plays an important role in our player development structure, and competing in USL League Two will allow us to take the next step in strengthening that pathway,” Riverhounds SC sporting director Dan Visser said. “USL League Two provides meaningful competition for players while aligning closely with our long-term vision for developing players for professional opportunities.”

USL League Two is the top pre-professional league in the United States with more than 140 teams across 37 states.

Riverhounds 2 will begin play in May in League Two’s Central Conference.
