Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett and Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson have been named semifinalists for the Walter Camp Award, which recognizes “the nation’s most outstanding player.”

Pickett has become a regular contender for several national awards this season. Previously, he was named a Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award “Top 10 Candidate,” Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and Maxwell Award semifinalist and Senior CLASS Award finalist.

With 29 touchdown passes and four scoring runs, Pickett is leading the nation’s highest-scoring offense that was averaging 45 points per game before Pitt’s game Thursday night against North Carolina.

Pickett entered that game third all-time in passing yards in the ACC with 11,155 yards, trailing only leader Philip Rivers of N.C. State and Tajh Boyd of Clemson. He needed 113 yards to pass Alex Van Pelt and become Pitt’s all-time leader.

Dotson leads the Big Ten in receptions (71) and is second in touchdowns (nine) and yards receiving (932).
