Before Pitt center John Hugley IV makes his final preparations for the 2022-2023 season, he will join Butler High School graduate and Purdue junior guard Ethan Morton on a trip to Spain.

Hugley and Morton are among 14 collegiate players who were named to the East Coast All-Stars that will play three games against some of the best players from Spain’s Liga ACB.

The players will be at Columbia University for a two-day training camp Aug. 1-2 before leaving for Barcelona, Spain.

“I am looking forward to building relationships with a group of new guys and going out there to showcase my talent and have fun,” Hugley IV said in a statement. “Playing the international game will be good experience defending different actions, closing out to shooters even more and playing harder defense.

“I am also looking forward to learning more about the 1992 Dream Team (that won an Olympic Gold Medal) and its time in Barcelona. I know they changed the game a lot on the international stage so I am excited to learn more about them.”

Hugley IV was named honorable mention All-ACC last season after averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He is one of two returning ACC players who averaged better than 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game a year ago.

Morton averaged 2.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while appearing in all 37 games for Purdue last season.

Joining Hugley and Morton on the team will be Jaylen Blakes (Duke), Cinque Stephens (NYU), Jaden Bobbett (Middlebury), Allyn Breed (Providence), Shamir Bogues (Tarleton), KJ Simpson (Colorado), Logan Alters (California), Brandon Newman (Purdue), JR Konieczny (Notre Dame), Jarrett Hensley (Cincinnati), Bennie Williams (Syracuse) and Raphael Castro (Providence).
