Were you among Saturday’s sellout crowd at PNC Park to watch Paul Skenes pitch, only to leave the game without a bobblehead of the Pittsburgh Pirates phenom?
Then keep an eye out this week for a pertinent announcement from the Pirates.
Per Pirates senior vice president of communications and broadcasting Brian Warecki, the Pirates plan on releasing details regarding how fans can get their Skenes bobblehead voucher by Wednesday.
Initially, only the first 20,000 fans to enter PNC Park for Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians were going to receive a Skenes bobblehead.
But hours before first pitch, fans eager to get a Skenes 2024 National League Rookie of the Year bobblehead crowded the streets of the North Shore, even stretching across the Roberto Clemente Bridge into downtown.
From there, at the behest of Pirates chairman Bob Nutting, the Pirates released a statement assuring fans that those who entered PNC Park and did not obtain a bobblehead would be sent an electronic voucher to claim one.
However, distribution details were not immediately revealed.
Concerned fans have indicated that though they were among the first 20,000 to make it into PNC Park on Saturday, their gates of entry were already out of bobbleheads by the time they entered.
Fans who fall into that category have not escaped the Pirates’ attention.
As for the electronic vouchers, their issuance is being based on ticket scans at individual gates, not the overall number of fans in the ballpark.
Per Warecki, the Pirates’ upcoming announcement should offer clarity for fans eager to know how to get their hands on a Skenes bobblehead.
“If someone scanned in after their gate was out of bobbleheads, they will be accounted for,” Warecki told TribLive. “As Bob Nutting made sure of, we are committed to ensuring every fan who came to the game on Saturday receives a bobblehead.”
