Pirates farm report for May 22, 2025: Omar Alfonzo drives in 4 in Greensboro win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 26-20) managed a total of six hits in being swept by Toledo (Tigers) in a doubleheader.

In the first game, a 2-1 Indianapolis loss, LF Matt Gorski (.289) went 1 for 3 with his fourth homer. Matt Frazier (.231) went 2 for 3 with a double. 2B Nick Yorke went 1 for 3. RHP Thomas Harrington (2-4, 5.24) started and gave up two runs on three hits, including a homer, in 5 ⅓ innings. He walked three and struck out two. RHP Dauri Moreta (3.00) walked one and got two outs.

In the second game, a 5-0 Indianapolis loss, Yorke (.258) and C Eli Wilson (.333) each hit a single and the rest of the lineup went 0 for 0 for 17. SS Lioer Peguero (.259) was 0 for 3 with three strikeouts. LHP Nick Dombkowski (1-2, 5.74) started and gave up three runs on three hits in two innings. RHP Carson Fulmer (4.70) allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer, in 2⅓ innings. RHP Ryder Ryan (2.50) got two outs and RHP Kyle Nicolas (5.23) threw a scoreless inning.

Next: Friday at Toledo (Tigers), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 20-20) and Akron (Guardians) were rained out for the second straight day. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 29-13) scored twice in the top of the ninth to beat Asheville (Astros), 8-6. DH Omar Alfonzo (.227) went 3 for 5 with four RBIs, including a two-run double in the ninth. A day after hitting three home runs, 2B Keiner Delgado (.268) went 1 for 2 with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. 1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.303) went 1 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. 3B Maikol Escotto (.333) went 1 for 5 with a run scored and his 16th stolen base. RHP Antwone Kelly (4.05) started and allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer, in five innings. RHP Jaycob Deese (4.00) came on and was touched up for four runs on five hits in two innings. LHP Julian Bosnic (2-1, 4.32) pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless innings to pick up the win. RHP Brandan Bidois (0.00) got the last two outs for his third save.

Next: Friday at Asheville (Astros), 6:35 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 19-22) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to beat Clearwater (Phillies), 4-3. CF Konnor Griffin (.320) was dropped to the No. 2 spot in the order and went 2 for 4. C Derek Berg (.205) went 1 for 4 with a triple. LF Camden Janik (.273) went 1 for 3 with a run scored. The rest of the lineup went 0 for 14. RHP Clevari Tejada (3.41) started and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. RHP Beau Burrows (1-0, 3.38) gave up one run in 1 ⅔ innings to pick up the win.
