Penn State’s football team will face Illinois on Saturday at Beaver Stadium in University Park as part of Big Ten Championship weekend.

The Week 9 game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and be broadcast on FS1.

The schools have not met since Sept. 21, 2018, when Penn State won 63-24 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill.

In 24 all-time meetings with Illinois, Penn State leads the series, 19-5.

Penn State (3-5) has won three straight games after an 0-5 start.

Illinois, on the other hand, fell to 2-5 after a 28-10 loss to Northwestern on Saturday. Illinois announced Sunday that Lovie Smith was out as head coach after five seasons and a record of 17-39 (10-33 Big Ten).

The Big Ten Championship weekend schedule is highlighted by Saturday’s noon matchup between Ohio State (5-0) and Northwestern (6-1) at Northwestern.

Friday’s matchups include Nebraska (2-5) at Rutgers (3-5) at 4 p.m. and Purdue (2-4) at Indiana (6-1) at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s other games are Minnesota (3-3) at Wisconsin (2-3) at 4 p.m., Michigan (2-4) at Iowa (6-2) at 7 p.m. and Michigan State (2-5) at Maryland (2-3) at 7:30 p.m.
