UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State senior safety John Petrishen announced Friday he has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

The 2015 Central Catholic graduate and Lower Burrell resident appeared in three games in 2017 and 13 games in ‘18, mainly on special teams. Petrishen wasn’t expected to play much at safety this season.

He was a three-year letterman at Central Catholic. Pitt was among the schools that offered Petrishen coming out of high school.

His great-grandfather, Pop Ellwood, and great uncle, Bill Ellwood, both played at Penn State.
