Penn State opens Micah Shrewsberry era with win over Youngstown State

STATE COLLEGE — The Micah Shrewsberry era got off on the right foot Wednesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State earned its first victory under Shrewsberry with a 75-59 win over Youngstown State.

Forward Seth Lundy led the Nittany Lions with 23, while forward John Harrar recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Sam Sessoms boosted Penn State by scoring 14 of his 17 points in the second half, and he also added eight assists and five rebounds.

The Nittany Lions shot 51.7% from the field as a team for the game.

Youngstown State was led by forward Michael Akuchie’s 22 points, and guards Garrett Covington and Shemar Rathan-Mayes added 11 apiece.
