Penn State, Big Ten aim to open men’s hockey season by Nov. 13

The Big Ten announced it is aiming to open the 2020-21 men’s hockey season by Nov. 13.

No schedule has been announced, but play will involve a 24-game regular season scheduled for all seven members of the conference.

Penn State is a member of the conference as is Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Independent Arizona State will also play four road games against each Big Ten teams.

The conference’s postseason tournament will be held March 18-20 and will be a single-elimination format involving all seven teams.

There was no word on women’s programs potentially resuming play.

The NCAA canceled the the remainder of the 2019-20 season on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Penn State claimed the conference’s regular season title in 2019-20 with a 12-8-4 conference record while boasting an overall record of 20-10-4.
