Mt. Lebanon’s Neal Shipley turned in his seventh consecutive subpar round as a professional Saturday at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, but he fell back on the leaderboard.

Shipley, playing in his first PGA Tour event as a pro on a sponsor’s exemption after making his pro debut a week earlier on the PGA Tour Americas, began the third round tied for sixth. After two birdies and an eagle through seven holes to get to 4-under-par for his round, Shipley leveled out. He finished his round with two bogeys (Nos. 9 and 15) for a 2-under 70, making him 11-under for tournament.

He is six strokes behind leaders Akshay Bhatia and Aaron Rai. Shipley shot a 67 on Thursday and a 68 on Friday.

Shipley became only the sixth golfer to finish as low amateur at the Masters and the U.S. Open in the same year.
