It will be a round Neal Shipley will remember.

His second round as a pro featured a great start and a disastrous ending.

The Mt. Lebanon native began the second round of the PGA Tour Americas — the Beachlands Victoria Open — with five birdies in his first seven holes. After a bogey on No. 8 and birdies on Nos. 11 and 12, he found himself tied for the early lead at 10-under par.

But the final four holes of the round brought him back to earth. He bogeyed No. 15, double-bogeyed No. 16 and bogeyed No. 18 to finish his second round at 2-under 68. He is 6-under for the tournament and tied for 32nd, seven shots behind a trio of leaders — Thomas Ponder, John Marshall Butler and Frederik Kjettrup.

Shipley was the only the sixth player to be low amateur at both The Masters and US Open during the same season.

The 2019 Central Catholic graduate shot a 4-under 66 in the first round of the Beachlands Victoria Open on Thursday.

The third round resumes Saturday at Victoria, British Columbia.
