Neal Shipley didn’t let a poor ending to the second round of his first pro event bother him.

The Mt. Lebanon native and 2019 Central Catholic rebounded with his best round as a pro.

Shipley, 23, shot a 6-under-par 64 on Saturday at the PGA Tour America’s The Beachlands Victoria Open and is tied for 16th at 12-under. He shot a 66 in Round 1 and a 68 in Round 2.

He is seven shots behind leader Frederik Kjettrup.

Shipley was 1-over through his first five holes (bogey on No. 3) before finding his groove.

He recorded four consecutive birdies (Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 9) to finish his front 9 and added two more birdies (Nos. 11 and 12).

After a bogey on No. 13, he ended his round with consecutive birdies ( Nos. 17 and 18).

Over the three rounds, Shipley has 22 birdies.
