Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 27 saves on 29 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-2 road win against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center in Allentown on Friday.

The result improved Blomqvist’s record to 17-8-5.

Forwards Corey Andonovski, Austin Rueschhoff and Lukas Svejkovsky scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (29-19-7-1).

Highlights:

Defenseman Ty Smith, traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, remained in the Penguins’ lineup due to the Hurricanes not having an American Hockey League affiliate. That franchise loans their players signed to NHL contracts to other AHL teams.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against Lehigh Valley on Saturday, 6:05 p.m.

Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 29 saves on 30 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 1-0 road loss to the Fort Wayne Komets at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The result dropped Gauthier’s record to 21-16-1 while Wheeling (31-24-1-1) was shut out for the third time this season.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Komets on Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
