Minor league report: Filip Larsson, Penguins shut out Bears

Goaltender Filip Larsson made 21 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 1-0 win against the rival Hershey Bears at the Giant Center in Hershey on Sunday.

The result was Larsson’s third shutout this season (tied for most in the American Hockey League) and improved his record to 4-3-1.

Forward Tristan Broz scored the lone goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (16-8-1-0) which has won four of its past six games.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Friday, 7:05 p.m.


Goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 28 saves on 30 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The result dropped Gauthier’s record to 3-2-0. Forward Peter Laviolette scored the only goal for Wheeling (18-5-1-0).

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Cincinnati Cylcones on Friday, 7 p.m.
