Minor league report: Boris Katchouk ties goal record as Penguins beat Checkers

Four goals by forward Boris Katchouk led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 6-4 win against the Charlotte Checkers at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Katchouk tied Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s single-game record for goals. His predecessors:

• Erik Christensen — Oct. 5, 2005 (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8, Bridgeport Sound Tigers 1)

• J.F. Jacques — Feb. 16, 2007 vs. (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 7, Binghamton Senators 0)

• Oskar Sundvist — Dec. 10, 2016 vs. (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 6, Hershey Bears 2)

Forward Sam Poulin recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (13-6-1-0) while forwards Tristan Broz and Boko Imama each contributed a goal.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 38 saves on 42 shots, boosting his record to 3-2-0.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Charlotte Checkers on Friday, 7:05 p.m.
