In pro debut, Mt. Lebanon’s Neal Shipley ties for 9th at The Beachlands Victoria Open

Neal Shipley earned a top-10 finish in his first professional golf tournament.

The Mt. Lebanon native and 2019 Central Catholic grad fired his fourth subpar round Sunday at the PGA Tour Americas’ The Beachlands Victoria Open in Victoria, British Columbia.

He shot a 3-under-par 67 to tie for ninth at 15-under 265.

Frederik Kjettrup won by firing a 21-under 259.

Shipley had an up-and-down final round that included eight birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

He finished the tournament with 30 birdies.

Shipley shot a 66 in Round 1, a 68 in Round 2 and a 64 in Round 3.

He was the sixth player to be low amateur at The Masters and U.S. Open in the same year.

His next event is the ATB Classic in Strathcona County, Alberta.
