Penn State received verbal commitments from three prospects within an hour’s time Friday afternoon.

Four-star safety Jaylen Reed of Detroit posted on Twitter his intention to enroll Thursday night.

Then, four-star safety Zakee Wheatley of Severn, Md., and four-star cornerback Kalen King of Cass Technical in Detroit committed Friday afternoon, along with King’s twin brother Kobe, a three-star inside linebacker.

Kalen King, ranked by nationally Rivals.com as the 21st cornerback in the class of 2021, has 32 scholarship offers. His brother has 27. Wheatley, ranked 11th among the nation’s safeties, has 23 offers.

The flurry of activity brings Penn State’s total to seven verbals, lifting the Nittany Lions’ 2021 class to 12th in the nation and No. 4 in the Big Ten, according to Rivals.

Reed (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) has scholarship offers from 33 schools, including Georgia, Michigan State, Pitt, West Virginia, Florida, Florida State, Mississippi, Nebraska, USC and Arkansas.

He is listed on the Rivals.com 250, ranked the 233rd overall prospect and the 10th safety in the U.S. He is No. 9 in Michigan.

He recorded 119 tackles (11 for a loss) and eight forced fumbles last season at Martin Luther King High School.

Penn State also has verbal commitments from four-star offensive lineman Landon Tengwall of Olney, Md.; Harrisburg three-star guard Nate Bruce, ranked No. 17 in the state; and Cincinnati three-star wide receiver Liam Clifford.
