Pitt basketball alum Tray Woodall is going to be a head coach at Fordham.
At least for a short time.
The former Pitt Panther is going to serve as the interim bench boss for the Rams over the next four games. On Wednesday, the university announced a self-imposed four-game suspension for men’s basketball coach Keith Urgo.
This move corresponds with an ongoing NCAA investigation “consistent with the updated NCAA guidelines related to recruiting violations.”

The school provided no further details.
The second of those four games for Woodall will be spent coaching against Duquesne at noon Jan. 26 in Rose Hill Gym.
Woodall is in his fourth year with the Rams. He had also been an assistant at Robert Morris and at St. Bonaventure.
At Pitt, Woodall played 139 career games (75 starts). The point guard from New Jersey averaged 8.0 points, 4.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.6 percent from the field.
He is one of seven players in program history to eclipse career totals of 1,000 points (1,108) and 500 assists (580). The Panthers went to three NCAA Tournaments with Woodall on the team. They won a CBI championship in 2012 and the 2011 Big East regular season title.
Another former Panther, Ronald Ramon, is also an assistant on that staff. Jameson O’Toole is a player for the Rams. He played at Pine-Richland and is the son of Pitt associate head coach Tim O’Toole. His first coaching job came as a graduate assistant at Fordham from 1987-89.
The Rams are 8-10 overall and 0-5 in Atlantic 10 play. Fordham just played one of the most unique college basketball games you are ever going to witness. On Wednesday, the Rams lost a game 120-118 at home to UMass in triple overtime.
There were 122 combined free throws in the game. Fordham shot a school-record 65 and made a school-record 48. Ex-Duquesne guard Jackie Johnson posted a career-best 36 points.

The Rams won a triple-OT game at George Washington last year 119-113.
