Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sergei Plotnikov has signed with SKA St. Petersburg in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

That team announced the transaction on Friday.

A native of Russia, Plotnikov has spent the past eight seasons playing in the KHL, including with SKA St. Petersburg, previously. He served as that team’s captain during the 2019-20 campaign.

Spending last season with CSKA Moskva, the 33-year-old Plotnikov appeared in 66 games and scored 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists).

Plotnikov’s lone season in North America of 2015-16 saw him play in 32 games for the Penguins and record two assists. At the 2016 trade deadline, he was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes.
