West Virginia and Duquesne, long-time rivals in men’s basketball, will meet for the first time in six years Nov. 1 at the WVU Coliseum in a charity exhibition game to benefit the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund.

The fund has been established for those directly impacted by the mass shooting Aug. 4 in Dayton’s historic Oregon District.

This will be the third year in a row WVU has played in a charity exhibition game. Duquesne played in one against Chatham in 2017. The NCAA approved the games for the purpose of raising funds for a catastrophic event.

“We’re proud to team with coach Huggins and the Mountaineers to help the people of Dayton,” Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot said in a statement. “Coach Huggins and I both have many ties to the state of Ohio, and this is a small way to help those directly affected by the events of Aug. 4. I hope we can fill the Coliseum for a worthy cause.”

This will be the first meeting between the Dukes and Mountaineers since Nov. 17, 2013. West Virginia is Duquesne’s second most-frequent all-time opponent. The schools have met 88 times.

The game will be televised by AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.
