Duquesne basketball on Wednesday received a verbal commitment from power forward Abdou Halil-Barre for its 2022 incoming recruiting class.

Halil-Barre, who stands 6-foot-9 and reportedly has a 7-4 wingspan, revealed the news via a message posted to his Twitter account. According to 247 Sports, Halil-Barre had scholarship offers from Illinois, USF and Bryant.

Halil-Barre played in prep school this past season at Scotland Campus in central Pennsylvania. Reportedly born in Africa and raised mostly in France, Halil-Barre previously played high school basketball in Florida.

Halil-Barre’s commitment comes within days of verbal commitments by Slovakian forward Matus Hronsky and VCU transfer Tre Clark.

Duquesne went 6-24 last season and most of its rotation has since entered the transfer portal.
