Calder Cup champion forward Jimmy Huntington signs with Penguins

Fresh off winning the Calder Cup last month with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, forward Jimmy Huntington was signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Huntington, 25, agreed to a one-year contract with a salary cap hit of $775,000 at the NHL level.

He had 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 67 games for Hershey last season and added 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 20 AHL playoff games.

Huntington (6-foot, 201 pounds) played parts of the last five seasons in the AHL with Hershey, Syracuse and Milwaukee, playing in 240 games and recording 113 points.
