American Legion District 31 announces all-stars

With its season complete, the American Legion District 31 baseball league announced its all-district teams, based on a managers’ vote.

Of the 24 first- and second-team players, league runner-up Latrobe led with six, while champion Bushy Run had five.

Homer City had three, while Murrysville, Young Township, Hempfield East and Somerset had two each.

Latrobe infielder Vinny Amatucci, who plays at Saint Vincent, is the only four-time all-district selection.

Blake Bertucci and Max Bernadowski of Murrysville, Hempfield East’s Connor Burkey and Haden Brink, and Dustin Coleman of Young Township all made the list as pitchers and position players.

Pitchers

First team: Blake Bertucci, Murrysville; Haden Brink, Young Township; Haden Sierocky, Latrobe

Second team: Max Bernadowski, Murrysville; Logan Bradish, Latrobe; Connor Burkey, Hempfield East; Dustin Coleman, Young Township; Eric Harris, Somerset; Nolan Marasti, Bushy Run

Catcher

First team: Lou Amatucci, Latrobe

Second team: Tristan Redinger, Homer City; Ian Temple, Bushy Run

Infield

First team: Vinny Amatucci, Latrobe; Blake Bertucci, Murrysville; Peyton Bigler, Bushy Run; Colin Bush Latrobe; Zane Hagans, Somerset

A number of the all-stars have committed to college programs.

Brink is headed to Enterprise State Community College in Alabama, while Sierocky committed to Seton Hill, Bradish pledged to Davis & Elkins, Burkey to Pitt-Greensburg, Harris to Saint Vincent, Marasti to Patrick Henry Community College (Va.), Moore to Bethany and Batista to Garrett County Community College (Md.).
