OK, we did our part.

We covered the issues in the Allegheny County executive race as it will hand off to the first new person in 12 years. We have been there for the developments in the Westmoreland County commissioners’ offices as one commissioner stepped down, one of the challenging candidates was appointed to fill the empty seat, another candidate dropped out and the party had to designate a replacement.

We have been on hand for the Allegheny County district attorney election developments. There are more seats in the Westmoreland courthouse up too, including the county sheriff.

We went to the school board meetings. We told you what was happening in boroughs and townships and cities. We broke down contested races all over multiple counties to give you what you needed to know.

Now it’s your turn.

Now you have to take the information, and you have to take the time. You have the ball, and you have to make the play.

You have definitely shown an interest. Our opinion pages have overflowed with letters to the editor as readers advocated for their chosen candidates. You got involved. You created a passionate and engaged exchange about issues that matter.

And now we are at the end of the road. It’s time to do the important part.

Go vote.

Show up at your polling place. Sign your name. Make your picks. Get your sticker and wear it proudly.

Vote respectfully and responsibly. Appreciate that others are doing the same, regardless of whom they choose. The vital part of the election is that everyone plays a part. Making up your own mind is critical to that.

While you’re at it, thank your poll workers for their essential role. It is thankless work and has become more contentious in recent years. But we can’t forget that these people are our neighbors and the election couldn’t take place without them.

So get out there. Cast your ballot. Make a difference.
