After President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take on Trump for president, Harris claimed the top Democratic spot in the betting market, USA Today reported.
The betting odds began to move toward Harris after Biden’s covid-19 diagnosis on Wednesday, according to USA Today.
USA Today said, according to the betting house, Harris’ odds of leading the party shortened from +450 to +110 after the diagnosis was announced, and Harris also moved past Biden in the general election odds, sitting in second place at +450 with Star Sports.
However, former President Donald Trump remains the betting favorite in the presidential race, which bookmakers can’t legally take action on in the U.S., though his odds on Bovada and BetOnline have lengthened, according to USA Today.
As of Sunday, USA Today said the Democratic nomination betting odds show Harris in pole position:

Forbes reported that bettors on the crypto-based betting platform Polymarket and New Zealand-based PredictIt are predicting Harris has an 84% chance of becoming the Democratic nominee.
And to join Harris on the hypothetical Democratic ticket, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is in the lead as a vice presidential candidate, according to betting odds released Sunday from online sportsbook BetOnline.ag, Newsweek reported.
Shapiro is leading the pack with 7/4, followed closely by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper at 3/1 and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear at 5/1, Newsweek said.
