Authorities are investigating a homicide involving the death of the owner of the Johnstown Freight Station in Johnstown, Cambria County, who was violently assaulted, according to reports from WJAC and WTAJ.
It occurred on the morning of Feb. 20 when police reported to the restaurant/bar because of a call regarding a 65-year-old man who had fallen and needed medical treatment.
The victim, found inside the establishment, was identified as Lance Ross, the owner of the establishment. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
An autopsy, performed by Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees on Feb. 22, showed that Ross most likely didn’t die from falling because his injuries were a result of a “violent assault.” His death has been ruled a homicide. The number of injuries Ross suffered has not been announced, according to reports.
Johnstown Police and the Cambria County District Attorney’s office are actively involved in the ongoing investigation into Ross’ death and have executed some warrants on Thursday and Friday, both news sites reported.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in providing additional information.
