Pennsylvania surpassed 200,000 coronavirus cases Wednesday with its second straight day of more than 2,000 new cases.
The state Department of Health reported 2,228 cases, bringing the state total to 200,674. On Tuesday, the state added a record 2,751 cases.
According to The Covid Tracking Project, 12 other states have recorded more than 200,000 cases: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
The state reported 22 new deaths on Wednesday, with 23 happening in October and one death removed from July. Of those deaths, five are from Westmoreland County with one each in Allegheny and Fayette counties. That brings the state’s total to 8,718.
Philadelphia County had the most new cases with 272, followed by Allegheny (199), Berks (135), Delaware (130) and Montgomery (94).

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, there are currently 1,187 coronavirus patients hospitalized in the state, an increase of 17 from Tuesday’s 1,170. The state has 4,983 ventilators, with 1,085 currently in use, but only 114 by covid-19 patients.
