Members of the Pennsylvania Senate are seeking public comments following the publication of “Aging Our Way, PA: A Plan for Lifelong Independence,” a 10-year plan to support the state’s older residents.
“Every Pennsylvanian deserves to live and age with dignity,” Sen. Maria Collett, D-12, said. “This comprehensive and innovative plan from Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich and his team will help ensure older and disabled Pennsylvanians can remain in their homes and communities, that their caregivers are supported, and that they have access to the services and resources they need to thrive.”
The plan was commissioned through an executive order by Gov. Josh Shapiro over the summer, and was developed in partnership with more than 50 regional Area Agencies on Aging as well as associated senior centers. More than 200 listening sessions took place across the state’se 67 counties. Priorities for the plan include
• Better access to services
• Aging in your own community
• Making more avenues to independence for seniors
• Caregiver support
• Education and help navigating the available services
