The members of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, who just won the World Cup ,hailed from colleges and universities scattered across the nation.
Joshua Kim, of Insider Higher Education, found out the most common majors among the 20 players enrolled in colleges were communications and sociology, which each claimed four of the players. Toss in Penn State’s Ali Krieger who majored in advertising and public relations, which might nominally qualify as a communications program, and communications takes the cake.
On the other hand, Megan Rapinoe, the outspoken captain of the Women’s Team, majored in sociology at the University of Portland.
Exercise and sports science, English and kinesiology rounded out the list of the most popular majors, with two players each.
