A woman from Braddock was arrested Thursday after authorities said she pointed a loaded gun at her mother during an argument outside a court building in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Kerneisha McClelland, 34, was taken into custody by Allegheny County Sheriff’s deputies shortly after noon Thursday in front of the Family Division Complex along Ross Street, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said that, after the hearing, McClelland went to retrieve her vehicle and pulled up to the entrance of the building and began arguing with her mother.

McClelland is accused of pulling out a loaded Bersa .380 handgun and pointing it at her mother during the argument, the sheriff’s department said.

A child was strapped in a car seat during the exchange between the two woman, they said.

“The mother retreated into the facility, followed by McClelland, and alerted sheriff’s deputies of the incident occurring outside,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

“Sheriff’s deputies immediately retrieved the firearm from McClelland’s vehicle and took her into custody,” they wrote.

McClelland was charged with one felony county of carrying a firearm without a license as well as making terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.

She was still in jail Friday morning after failing to post a $20,000 cash bond, according to court records.

She faces a Nov. 10 preliminary hearing on the charges. McClelland did not have a lawyer listed in court records.
