Spirit Airlines will resume its daily seasonal flights from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport near Latrobe to Myrtle Beach, S.C., on April 10, the airlines said .

The non-stop seasonal flight connecting Westmoreland County’s lone airport to Myrtle Beach International Airport at the beach resort community is resuming about one month earlier than it did last year.

“It’s exciting. Hope it’s a sign of good things to come,” said Gabe Monzo, executive director of the Westmoreland County Airport Authority.

Spirit stopped its seasonal service from the Unity airport to Myrtle Beach before Thanksgiving, Monzo said.

The flight from Arnold Palmer Regional to Myrtle Beach will have some local competition, because Spirit Airlines also said it plans daily, nonstop flights from Pittsburgh International Airport on March 21, in time for the traditional college spring break. Spirit said it serves nine nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh.
