Westmoreland Performing Arts Professional Theatre Company will transport theater fans back to a time of big guitar solos and even bigger hair as they present the musical “Rock of Ages” on Feb. 23-24.

“It’s a party!” said director Tony Marino. “You’re going to sing along with pretty much every song, you’re going to laugh out loud at things you experienced and missed from the ’80s.”

The Tony-nominated Broadway musical follows the story of Hollywood busboy Drew Boley, who works at a club called the Bourbon Room. As he falls in love, the city’s mayor is convinced to put a stop to the “sex, drugs and rock’n’roll” lifestyle and it becomes a race to save the Bourbon Room.

The musical’s story works in hit songs from 1980s bands such as Foreigner, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and Night Ranger.

The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23-24 in the Science Hall Theatre at Westmoreland County Community College, 145 Pavilion Lane just outside Youngwood.

Tickets are $20 and are available at DanceStudio-pro.com/tickets/wpa.
