A 21-year-old Derry Township man awaiting trial on more than 100 offenses including 30 charges of rape will be prosecuted as an adult, a judge ruled.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani rejected a defense request to transfer the case, filed last year against Tyler Alan Eisworth, to juvenile court.

Police contend Eisworth raped and sexually assaulted his accuser starting in 2008 when she was 4 years old. Eisworth, who was just 8 at that time, continued the assaults for the next eight years until 2016.

In addition to the rape charges, Eisworth also faces 20 counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault as well as other related offenses.

According to court records, Eisworth confessed during a meeting with police in August 2021.

“The defendant related that he committed all the alleged acts but is unsure of how many times because it was so many that he could not remember,” he told police.

Eisworth remains free after he posted a $20,000 bond shortly after his arrest last summer. No trial date has been scheduled.
