One person is dead and another was flown by medical helicopter after an overnight crash on Interstate 70 in South Huntingdon, state police said.

Crews responded to the two-vehicle crash at mile marker 53 near the Yukon exit shortly after midnight Sunday, according to a police report.

David J. Ott, 25, of Perryopolis was killed in the crash, police said. The other driver was flown to UPMC Presbyterian. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, Ott was traveling east on Interstate 70. Another vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when they struck Ott’s car head-on.

Ott, who was pronounced dead at the scene, suffered multiple blunt force injuries, officials said. A cause and manner of death are pending.

Any charges in the crash are pending blood-alcohol content results, police said.

All lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours because of the crash, according to PennDOT. The roadway reopened shortly before 5 a.m.
