Inline hockey lessons at Palmer Imaging Arena

Palmer Imaging Arena will host a weekly series of classes teaching children how to play inline hockey.

The sessions will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays at the arena, 100 Center Ice Drive in Salem.

The cost to attend all sessions is $75, and there is a $10 “drop-in” fee.

Eye & Ear Foundation CEO at Murrysville speaker series

Lawton Snyder, CEO of the Eye & Ear Foundation of Pittsburgh, will be the featured speaker at the next “Boomers & Beyond” session at Mother of Sorrows Church.

Snyder will present “The Future of Vision Care,” an overview of research into new vision care therapy and treatment underway at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Opthalmology. The foundation helps support the department’s research.

The presentation will be at noon on July 12, and doors will open at 11:30 a.m. at the church, 4202 Old William Penn Highway in Murrysville.

There is no cost to attend, and attendees can bring a bag lunch. Beverages are provided.

Free ‘Imagination Day’ at Rewind-Reuse Center

The Rewind-Reuse Center will host its second annual “Imagination Day” July 16 with free children’s crafts throughout the day at the workshop, 5853 Washington Ave. in Export.

The workshops are open to children heading into grades 1-7, with an adult present, and registration is required. Sessions will take place at 9:30 and 11 a.m., and 1 and 2:30 p.m.

Sewing supply sale in Hempfield

A sale of sewing supplies will take place from 4-8 p.m. July 22, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23, at First Baptist Church of Greensburg at 1228 Brinkerton Road, Hempfield.

Thousands of yards of fabric will be available at $5 per yard, along with notions, sewing-themed decorations and personal items.

Flag football registration opens

The Sampson Family YMCA will host free flag football clinics in August, with the season starting on Sept. 8.

Age divisions are 6-9, 10-12 and 13-15 years old. League registration includes an NFL Flag Team shirt and flag belt. Separate registration is required for clinics and leagues.

Two free clinics will take place Aug. 13 and 20, with separate sessions for each age group.

The cost to register for the season is $95 for Sampson YMCA members and $145 for community members.

‘Family Fun Night’ in Delmont

The Delmont Recreation Committee will host its “Family Fun Night” summer series on the last Saturday of the month at Newhouse Park.

The event will take place from 4-11 p.m. July 30, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24 at the park off of Stotler Road, with a movie shown at dusk.

Delmont Daze set for Aug. 6

The annual Delmont Daze celebration will take place from 1-7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Rose Wigfield Parklet.

A parade will step off at 1 p.m., with live music from 2-7 p.m. from On Our Way Home and the Sweaty Already String Band. Food trucks on hand will include Earth Wheel & Fire, Speal’s on Wheels, Lou Lou’s Smoke House, T&D Bakery and Kona Ice.

The afternoon will include crafts, balloon art, face painting, games, antique cars and a magician for children. There will be a 3 p.m. K-9 demonstration at the nearby Delmont Public Library, and a Chinese auction drawing at 6 p.m.

Drinks will be available from White Valley Distillery and Salem Spirits.
