A Mt. Pleasant Township woman was jailed over the weekend after police said she struck a man with her SUV, sending him to the hospital for treatment of arm injuries.

Cynthia M. Janos, 33, was released from the county prison Sunday on $10,000 recognizance bond. She is charged with aggravated assault, DUI, harassment, reckless endangerment and related offenses.

Witnesses told police that Janos and the man were involved in a verbal argument in the driveway of a home in the 4200 block of Route 981 near the village of Calumet at 11:11 p.m. Saturday when Janos struck the man with her 2018 GMC SUV. The man was knocked onto the hood of the SUV and rolled to the ground, witnesses said.

Janos backed up, “accelerated again and ran over his arm” before driving off, witnesses told police.

Shortly after the incident, troopers found Janos sitting in her parked SUV at a nearby church. She was taken into custody and submitted to a breathalyzer test. Her blood-alcohol level was recorded at .10 percent, according to Trooper Nicholas Loughner.

Janos admitted striking the man with her vehicle, Loughner said.

“Yes. I knew I hit him,” Janos told troopers.

The man was taken by ambulance to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville where he was treated and released, police said.

Janos has no prior criminal history, according to online court dockets, and could not be reached for comment.
