A Westmoreland County jury this week convicted a Greensburg man on charges in connection with an attack last year against a woman in her home.
Brian A. Curry, 36, was found guilty of felony charges of strangulation, burglary, trespassing, victim intimidation and one misdemeanor count of simple assault in connection with an incident on Aug. 19, 2023, in which police said he physically and emotionally assaulted a woman with whom he had a prior relationship.
Investigators said Curry broke into the home at about 1 a.m. He choked her and threatened to inject her with a large dose of heroin then grabbed a knife, held it to her throat and attempted to cut off her hair, according to court records.
Jurors on Thursday acquitted Curry of aggravated assault. One count of sexual extortion was dismissed mid-trial by Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani.
Curry, who prior to the trial was being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond, will remain incarcerated as he awaits a sentencing hearing in about three months.
Curry pleaded guilty in April to drug offenses and was sentenced to serve six to 12 months in jail. He has two criminal cases pending, including allegations related to drug offenses last year in Jeannette and for unrelated charges in which authorities claim he possessed instruments of crime while incarcerated at the county jail, according to court records.
