A Hempfield man was ordered Thursday to serve 10 to 20 years in prison for the rape of a child.

Ted Donald Brown III, 42, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of rape in connection with sexual assaults police said took place over a six-year period that started in 2015.

According to court records, an investigation was started after police received a report from witness who said Brown was seen with the then 15-year-old girl at a home last September.

Brown was arrested and jailed in February.

As part of a plea bargain finalized Thursday, Westmoreland County prosecutors dismissed eight other offenses against Brown.

Brown did not comment following his guilty plea.
