A witch-themed event Saturday in Greensburg will have a cauldron full of spooky activities, contests and performances.

The Greensburg Wicked Witches Gala will spread on South Pennsylvania Avenue between West Pittsburgh and West Fourth streets from 4-8 p.m. Hosted by the Greensburg Business & Professional Association, the event is expected to be much larger than a similar gathering in 2023.

“We did a small little thing last year and said we wanted to do it better this year,” said Amy Beeghly, association president.

There will be more than 70 vendors spread out over the three blocks and food trucks will be available, though the association is promoting local restaurants that may have specials tied to the event, which is free. A separate “Sinners’ Corner” with alcohol for purchase and games of chance has a $5 entry fee.

Attendees can visit a photo booth, tarot card reader and medium or have their photo taken with a zombie or villain. Performances are scheduled in the Moore & Becker parking lot from Hi-Def Band, Westmoreland Performing Arts and the Dancing Witches of Westmoreland.

“I think that there’s a lot of excitement about this event,” Beeghly said.

Registration will be open for two contests — witches hats and bewitching attire — from 4-6:15 p.m. The entry fee is $5. Hats will be judged outside Greensburg Hempfield Area Library at 6:30 p.m. followed by costumes at 7.

Cash only will be accepted for the contest entries and Sinners’ Corner. Any proceeds will benefit the nonprofit association. Two free shuttles will run from Nicely Elementary School between 4-8 p.m.
