The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum has been located behind city hall since 1998, but those wanting a look at its extensive collection of firefighting memorabilia have always needed to make an appointment.

Otherwise, the building has been closed to the public — until now. The museum now is open a few hours monthly: from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month, and 9 a.m. to noon on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Admission is free.

Those who can’t make the open hours can visit another time by making an appointment with museum officials at 724-832-7904.

The museum’s collection includes antique fire trucks, uniforms and equipment, pictures of historic Greensburg fires, and many toy and model fire trucks.
