It just got cheaper to operate a food truck in Greensburg.

City council Monday unanimously voted to slash the cost of a food truck health license, and add new license categories for special events.

The original ordinance, created in 2016, offered two types of annual licenses. One cost $800, the other $1,200. They now cost $300 and $800, respectively.

The cheaper license allows a food truck to operate on city streets between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Food trucks are not allowed to operate on city streets during the day.

The more expensive option allows trucks to operate in private lots at any time, in addition to city streets at night.

The updated ordinance adds three new license types — $35 for a one-day license, $100 for trucks operating during the SummerSounds concert series and $200 for trucks at the city farmers market.

The update reduces the wait period for a food truck health license from 30 days to five.
