Handmade works by about 30 artists are up for grabs at the Greensburg Art Center’s holiday sale until late December.

The Art of Gifting will run through Dec. 20, said sale chairperson Debbie King. The art center at 230 Todd School Road in Hempfield has held the sale for about 15 years, King estimates.

The event provides community members an opportunity to purchase unique pottery, jewelry, fabric and wall art and other gifts from local artists, she said.

“The nice thing about actual art that’s handmade is there’s so much digital now and AI and all of that. It’s just nice to see something real,” said King of Greensburg. “It speaks of the artist — they create things out of what they see, what they feel, what’s in their heart, and that comes through in their artwork.”

T-shirts, stained glass lanterns and ceramic bird decorations are new to the sale this year, King said. Other notable pieces include cut paper art, silver jewelry by former Ligonier art teacher Cheryl Robertson and pottery by internationally known potter Ron Korczynski, who was raised in Natrona Heights.

A portion of each purchase will benefit the art center, which offers a variety of classes and the Rowe Gallery.

Anyone who makes a purchase will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket. Customers can also complete a scavenger hunt; their names will be entered into a weekly drawing for a gift certificate.
