Food vendors and some favorite bands will line up this weekend for three days of good eats and good music at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds.
The Food & Music Festival is scheduled for 4-10 p.m. Friday, 2-10 p.m. Saturday and 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the complex off Mt. Pleasant Road in Mt. Pleasant Township.
Owners of antique and classic cars also are invited to exhibit their retro rides on Saturday and Sunday.
While other promoters have hosted food truck festivals at the fairgrounds, this is the first time for fair staff to organize one of its own, said fair secretary Sarah Sphon.
“We’re just hoping a lot of people will come out,” she said.
There will be both food trucks and food stands. Some food vendors will be present throughout the weekend; others will sell only on select days, Sphon said.
Participants include Aunt Dee Dee’s, Big Black Grill, Comers Cold Stop, Hoshi Food Truck, Klosky’s Pierogies, Li’s Concessions, Little E’s, Overly’s Country Christmas, PGH EATZ, Pitaland, Post Avenue, Steel City Chimneys and Westmoreland Family Farms.
Beer and 14 varieties of wine will be available for the 21-and-over crowd.
The band lineup includes “bands that are currently local or that got their start in the area,” Sphon said.
Music schedule includes:
• Friday: Three Sides, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; and Beatle Mania Magic, 8-10 p.m.
• Saturday: East Coast Turnaround, 3-5 p.m.; Saddle Up, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; and Scott, Rob and Greg of the Clarks, 8-10 p.m.
• Sunday: Michael Christopher, 2:30-4 p.m.; Willow Hill, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and Airborne featuring Jeff Jimerson, 7-9 p.m.
Sphon noted that, although this is an outdoor event, the arena where the bands play is covered. Seating is available, but attendees also can bring their own chairs.
Admission to the festival is $5, or free to kids 12 and younger. No tickets will be pre-sold and payment at the gate will be cash only.
The car show is open only to antique (45 years or older) and classic (20-45-years-old) vehicles. Cars must arrive between 2-3 p.m. Saturday and/or Sunday and must be on display in the designated parking area until 6 p.m.
All classic and antique vehicles will receive free admission for the driver and one passenger. Cars will enter the main gate on Blue Ribbon Lane and will be directed where to park.
First-, second- and third-place prizes will be sponsored by Graham Dairy Supply.
